Productdetails

The Biggest Hawthorn Outdoor Jungle Gym

The Hawthorn XL Natural is the full-size version of the Avenlur Hawthorn, an outdoor jungle gym for kids built around a striking wooden octagon climber. The XL scales everything up: a taller 86.6 inch frame, a wider octagon, a deeper ladder ramp and a 71.2 inch wave slide, with room for siblings and friends to play at the same time. The natural cedar finish blends into the yard.

Ways to Play

  • Octagon climber: A 65.5 inch geometric frame to climb through, hang from and sit on top of.

  • Monkey bars: Builds grip, upper-body strength and coordination.

  • Rock climbing wall: A steep climb with holds to the 37.1 inch platform.

  • Rope net: A wobbly climb that builds balance.

  • Wave slide: A 71.2 inch slide for the fast way down.

  • Classic swing: A calmer turn between climbs.

A Backyard Jungle Gym Built Around Climbing

Most backyard playsets are a fort with a slide attached. The Hawthorn starts with climbing, the active, whole-body play that builds strength, balance and confidence. The open octagon frame gives kids more than one route up, so a 3-year-old and a 9-year-old can both find their challenge. It turns the yard into an outdoor gym kids use every day.

Built for the Outdoors

The Hawthorn XL is made from solid cedar, a wood known for its natural weather resistance. Set it on level ground with soft surfacing like wood chips or rubber mulch underneath, and check the hardware at the start of each season.

The playset had good instructions. It took 3 adults to put it together in half a day. Well worth it. My son and the child next door are really enjoying it.

Assembly instructions were easy to follow and the quality of the product was excellent. Our 4 year old granddaughter loved it.

Fun set-up with lots of climbing options and sturdy construction. I am tryin to find a fix for the swing though, which slides back and forth across the monkey bars that it hangs from.

Fairly easy to set up with two people. So far, my toddler has been loving the climbing stuff and the swing. I can't comment about the longevity as we just installed it a few weeks ago but it looks really nice.

Looks great in the yard and my boys are liking it. Took about two days to assemble on my own, especially because I had some custom work to do to make it work on a semi uneven surface. Instructions were solid.

My son got this place for Christmas and it has been a great addition to his outside play area. There’s so many different options and the slide attachment was a great addition.

We’re happy with our purchase but we’re missing some screws which mean that we can’t install the slide. Also, some of the holes were not drilled properly.

Super cute climber! Bought it for my son's 3rd birthday and he loves it! Nice quality wood, brightly colored climbing "stones" for the rock wall. Loads of opportunities for physical and imaginative play.

The anchors for our yard were too long. There is some limestone bed rock after one foot. Optimizing this design would be preferred

Lovely to look at in the yard. All you need and doesn't take up space. Time will tell if it stays sturdy over the years.
